Surrounded by early summer

Organizing wonder inside & outside

The Cushion-ologie team is mimicking the frenzied activity of the garden,as everything is nearly in full bloom. The days aren't too hot,the weeds are too high & the butterflies & humming birds are enjoying the flowers.Last week I was in Oregon & summer was bursting out there with azaleas & rhododendrons strutting their varied colors with birds singing loudly(however not quite as raucous as the ones I heard in Australia).Everything was saturated in a gorgeous green. It was a lovely contrast to the yellow grass we have in Northern California.151 copy

They had eaten all the roses leaving just bare stems. At least the deer will be healthy as the roses have not been sprayed.

The latest cushion has a magnificent vintage hive photo compliments of thegraphicfairy.com. Although we have never had hives I love honey & one of my favorite books is "The Secret Life of Bees" which I devoured several times. Antonio Machado's magnificent verse has been put on one of the pockets.

...Last night as I was sleeping,

I dreamt - marvelous error!

that I had a beehive

here inside my heart

And the golden bees

were making white combs and sweet honey

- from my old failures...

Such a beautiful poem & such a relief to know that in the end there may be a drop or two of "sweetness" in all those choices we made. Does reading Antonio Machado's poem take your breath away just for a moment? Thanks for visiting,& stay in touch, Lizzie
