Today my flatmate Irene (Mum) & I set off. I had a GPS as I am not familiar with driving outside Auckland city. When the GPS started giving directions, my "co-pilot" stated she knew a better way. I looked at her face & as she seemed serious I decided to follow her directions. This happened 2 times & indeed she was accurate ( Irene also made the correct call after the GPS told me to go straight & a left or right turn was the only option.) It's all very curious as often Irene is unable to hear a conversation across the table, so has to be reminded to turn her imaginary hearing aids up.
Today was momentous step. After we selected a table, she pulled herself up from the wheelchair & declared she would be sitting in a chair. It all takes so much energy & is exhausting but she doesn't give up. Irene's biggest treat was ordering a sandwich with plain white bread. Patricia has been buying her very healthy bread; gluten free, dairy free, soy free, non GMO, wheat free & sugar free so she gobbled today's sandwich up enthusiastically.
and in between GPS's & gluten free bread alchemy is doing it's thing.
Thanks for visiting & stay in touch. If you have any questions or concerns about your sister, mother or friend Irene don't hesitate to contact her. Lizzie
